Senior Engineer/Project Manager

The Role

Responsible for delivery of the company’s projects and operational activities within A2 Site Investigation.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Promote and develop the company’s culture, technical excellence, policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Identify, design and develop staff training programmes.
  • Maintain and develop new and existing clients.
  • Design and develop in-house capabilities.
  • Identify new business partners.

Day to day responsibilities

  • Proactively lead projects, including personal delivery of on-site activities where required.
  • Ensure H&S, technical, operational, and commercial aims of projects are met.
  • Writing and review of technical reporting output.
  • Plan and manage project resources.
  • Proactively identify and manage change.
  • Negotiate all project variations.
  • Ensure all project deadlines are met.
  • Prepare fee proposals.
  • Conduct client meetings and presentations.

Responsible to the Projects Lead.

Requirements

  • BSc degree level qualification in geology/civil engineering
  • MSc in geology/geotechnical discipline desirable 
  • Minimum 3 years in site investigation industry 
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge and awareness
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Proven and demonstratable success in a senior role

Site Engineer

A2 Site Investigation (A2SI) continues to grow into 2026, and we are looking for forward-thinking, motivated professionals to join our London team on the South Bank.

Who We’re Looking For

We want to hear from degree-qualified geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineers and engineering geologists with proven experience in planning and managing ground investigations on site. You should be eager to make a positive contribution to both our project delivery and collaborative company culture.

You’ll bring strong site health and safety awareness, project management, technical understanding, and critical thinking skills to ensure the safe and successful delivery of investigations in challenging urban environments.

We welcome applications from all levels of experience, and seek those who are keen to work on UK-wide projects with a London-based ground and structural investigation company.

The Role

This is a site-focused position complemented by structured office time for project preparation, reporting, and professional development. The role involves regular travel and occasional overnight stays, and applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.

About You

  • Experienced in geotechnical or geoenvironmental site work, ideally in a Supervisory role.
  • Excellent communicator with strong organisation and negotiation skills
  • Committed to health, safety, and quality standards
  • Proficient in technical reporting and IT
  • Familiarity with CAD, AGS, OpenGround (HoleBASE), or other geotechnical software is advantageous
